What is "Ethical Dog Training”?

Ethical dog training means that we believe positive vibes are key. We use the LIMA method of dog training. LIMA is an acronym for "Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive" and is a training approach that uses humane and scientifically studied strategies to change behavior and achieve training goals. This means your dog won’t be trained using equipment such as choke or prong collars, electronic feedback collars, leash “pops” or other force-based and outdated training techniques that can cause mental and physical harm to your dog. Instead, we focus on teaching your dog what we like to see from them instead of just punishing them for the things we don’t.

What kind of education do you have?

I have worked with animals, including dogs, for over 15 years. I have also been a professional pet sitter for over 7 years. I have worked with all types of dogs from rescues at local shelters to family dogs and everything in between. I attended CATCH Canine Trainer’s Academy and graduated as a CCTA Certified Dog Trainer. CATCH offers a complete education that is based on the standards of the nationally respected Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers and the position statements of the leading organization in reward-based dog training, the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. I was also an Assistant Dog Trainer with ‘CNY Pet Training & Behavior’ which is owned by Danielle Basciano in Central New York. In addition, I worked at the local municipal shelter in Syracuse—B&R Bunkhouse—3 days a week, working with shelter dogs of all ages, types and sizes.

My skills help me to teach you how to have a lasting relationship with your dog that is built on positivity, choice and love.
